drinkball asked: hey i know it's pretty late but i'm a visiting student and i was wondering if you guys are active during the summer?? i'd love to have something to do club-wise while i'm in NYC and i've always wanted to join a queer club haha
I’m not sure when you sent this in, but in response to your question, no, we’re not active during the summer. You might try the NYC LGBT Center in the West Village. They have lots of club-like activities that you might be interested in.
portraitofagirl-canvasofages asked: Hey there! So I'm a freshman girl at NYU, and I would love to attend some of the Camp Grrl club events. Do you happen to know yet when the nearest event will be happening in the spring semester?
Our first event this semester is going to be a general meeting. It will be held on Wednesday, February 12, at 7pm in the NYU LGBTQ Center (Kimmel 602). Hope to see you there!
From Monday’s “Thanksgiving”-themed meeting. The turkeys we made.
At our last general meeting we voted on a date to see the controversial Palm d’Or-winning film Blue is the Warmest Color. We will be seeing the film on Thursday, November 21, which happens to be the last day that the film will be showing at the IFC. Sorry to those of you who wanted to see it on Friday. The first 10 people to show up at the theater will receive a discounted ticket at the cost of $6. All other participants will have to buy a full-priced ticket, which costs $13.50. Please RSVP for this event if you intend to be there and would like to receive a discounted ticket. This way we can make adjustments to our co-pay if we have more or less participants than expected.
When: Thursday, November 21 at 9:00pm. Film begins 9:35.
Where: The IFC Center. 323 Sixth Avenue at West 3rd Street.
Bring: Your $6 co-pay.
Contact Devon at 817-602-3228 if you are lost or running late to the film.
Thank you everyone who came out for our Body Pos Cupcake Extravaganza! Icing boobs, icing butts, icing lips everywhere.
Make sure to come to our next event this Thursday 11/14 at 8:45pm, room 279 of NYU’s GCASL!
IFC OFFERING FREE TICKETS TO ANY IDAHOEN (Idahen? Idahonite?) WHO TRAVELED TO NYC TO SEE “BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR”
Snaps to the IFC Center.
Here’s an article about the film’s ban in Idaho (not our favorite article, but informative nonetheless):
Here is another interesting article about the portrayal of lesbian sex in the film:
Have y’all seen it? What are your thoughts?
A big thank you to Sinclair Sexsmith for coming in for NYU’s Pride month. Your “Best! Sex! Ever!” workshop was fantastic!
Sexsmith is the creator of the award-winning blog “Sugarbutch Chronicles,” and a sex, gender, and intimacy coach (among many other things).
